What do I mean? No matter how sophisticated a camera is, it's still just a black box with a hole in it. IT clearly has no soul. Yet, when you let someone loose on it, strange things happen. You may say it is the photographer, and you wouldn't be wrong, but....the real point is, what IS a photograph? Is it a capture in time - a moment? Is it a construct of reality? Is it a construct of imagination? Is it a heart felt emotion finding expression? Is it a record of a physical object? For me, the 'Soul' of photography comes from within. This is my first attempt at nude art and is something I have wanted to approach for several years. I signed up for a workshop at Callumet in Edinburgh as I didn't feel confident about asking anyone to pose for me. It is difficult to approach the subject without getting into potentially hot water. and, at my age, I don't meet young women who may be willing to model very often and usually am more likely to know their parents! The course was good for several reasons.
