What do I mean?
No matter how sophisticated a camera is, it's still just a black box with a hole in it.
IT clearly has no soul.
Yet, when you let someone loose on it, strange things happen. You may say it is the photographer, and you wouldn't be wrong, but....the real point is, what IS a photograph?
Is it a capture in time - a moment?
Is it a construct of reality?
Is it a construct of imagination?
Is it a heart felt emotion finding expression?
Is it a record of a physical object?
For me, the 'Soul' of photography comes from within.
The soul part is provided by the LIVING presence of the photographer
Art is art and artists are artis
